| GENERAL TIPS |
- Set your thermostat at 78° F in the summer and 68° F in the winter and leave them there.
- Setting your thermostat lower or higher does not speed up the cooling or heating process.
- Unlike a light bulb, your heating and cooling system doesn't product immediate results. It only begins to work when you set the thermostat.
- Longer run times allow your heating and cooling system to maintain a more constant room temperature and provide more efficiency than continually switching off and on.
- Drapes, blinds, doors, and windows are also a key part of your air conditioning success, working to improve unit efficiency.
- Keep furniture, curtains, and rugs away from vents and air registers. They block the airflow.
- Programmable thermostats, when used properly, will help you reduce your heating and cooling energy costs.
- Always keep your filters clean.
- Have your heating and cooling system professionally serviced annually to keep it running safely and efficiently.

| TIPS FOR THE WINTER SEASON |
- Open curtains and shades to let the sum warm your home naturally.
- A furnace purchased during the warmer months will usually not run long enough for the "new smell" to go away. If you detect an odor, let some fresh air in. If it's troubling you, feel free to call with questions.
- Should your heat pump create a cloud of steam, it's probably a product of the defrost cycle, which melts ice on the outdoor unit.

| TIPS FOR THE SUMMER SEASON |
- Keep curtains and shades closed during the summer. The heat from the sun often counteracts the cooling efforts of your heating and cooling system.
- Avoid using appliances that give off heat during the hottest times of the day. They'll make your cooling system work harder.
- Use ceiling fans to take some of the burden off your air conditioner. Fans can make the air feel 6° cooler.
- Keep plants and brush at least three feet away from outside units so they can operate more efficiently.
- A cooling system can produce up to 15 gallons of water a day.
- If you purchase a new cooling system in the winter months, you may not have enough refrigerant for peak operation. Test your system before the weather gets too hot. If the refrigerant is too low, Green will happily charge it up.
